The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests is the Programme Operator for the “Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems” – RO-Environment Programme and is funded by the European Economic Area EEA Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021.
As a beneficiary, the Territorial Administrative Unit (TAU) of Câmpina Municipality carries out the project ’’Development of mitigation and adaptation plans to climate change in the municipality of Câmpina’’, financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021, grants provided by Donor States Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
The general objective of the project is to increase the capacity of the TAU Câmpina Municipality to face the challenges caused by climate change and the need to adapt, as well as the need to mitigate their effects, by integrating knowledge about this phenomenon locally and raising awareness at the administration level and the local community, thus reducing the adverse effects of pollution.
Specific objectives of the project are:
- Developing knowledge and improving the capacity to manage climate change and its impact by developing strategies and plans for climate change mitigation and adaptation in Câmpina.
- Raising awareness of the challenges posed by climate change and the need for adaptation, as well as the need to mitigate its effects and the responsiveness of the local public authority in the current context, through information and employee involvement at public local authority level.
The total value of the project is 611,497 lei, of which 608,522 lei represents the non-reimbursable financial contribution, and the implementation period is 12 months.
The results of the project being implemented will lead to the reduction or prevention of the release of carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere, but also to an integrated economy of climate change in the area of the territorial administrative unit.
