The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests is the Programme Operator for the “Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems Programme’’ (RO – Environment), ’’Restoration of wetlands and peatlands’’, funded by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The Bucharest Institute of Biology of the Romanian Academy, as Project Promoter, together with the Partner Norwegian Institute for Nature Research, launched on Monday, December 19, 2022, the project Degraded mires and peatlands restoration of North-West region of Romania – PeatRO4.
This project has a value of 2,655,140 lei and is implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, through the “Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems Programme’’ (RO – Environment), financed by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The general objective of the project is to improve the ecological state of ecosystems, reduce the negative effects of human activities and reduce vulnerability to the impact of climate change by restoring 3 wetlands/peatlands totaling an area of 8 ha in the North-West region of Romania (Cluj county).
