On 26 February 2024, Tulcea municipality, as Beneficiary, organized a Closing Conference for the project ’’Elaboration of the Plan for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change in Tulcea Municipality’’.
The total value of the project was 584,832 lei, and it was implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, through the ’’Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems Programme’’ (RO – Environment), as Programme Operator, and funded by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. The project was implemented between November 24, 2022 – November 24, 2023.
The municipality of Tulcea partnered with the Bucharest National Research and Development Institute for Environmental Protection, which is specialized in fundamental/applicative research activities and technological development, in the field of engineering and environmental protection.
The general objective of the project was represented by the development of the climate change adaptation and mitigation plan for the municipality of Tulcea, which involved the fulfillment of several specific objectives: inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, analysis of current and forecasted climate, analysis of risks and vulnerabilities to climate change, identification and description of actions to complete the climate change adaptation and mitigation plan.
The project targets all components of society and all economic sectors, from the energy sector to industry, transport, buildings, agriculture and the measures that need to be taken for the climate and environment, to preserve and protect the planet, so as to improve the way we live, our mobility, heating or cooling our homes, as well as productivity and what we consume.
Project results are related to national and EU policies in the field of climate change, which is a real threat to the world we live in.
