The Prahova County Council, as a Beneficiary, together with its Partners, the Ploiești City Hall, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and the University of Iceland, carried out the Project ’’Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan Development in Prahova County (AtenuareClimPh)’’. The closing conference took place on 8 December 2022.
The event was organized together with the Project Partners, with the aim of disseminating information and results regarding the challenges caused by climate change and the need for adaptation, as well as the need to mitigate their effects, by integrating knowledge about this phenomenon at the local level and increasing awareness at the local administration and community level, thus reducing the adverse effects of pollution at local and regional levels.
The general objective of the project is to increase the capacity of Prahova County, with an emphasis on the Municipality of Ploiești, to face the challenges caused by climate change and the need for adaptation, as well as the need to mitigate their effects, by integrating knowledge about this phenomenon at the local level and raising awareness among the local administration and community, thus reducing the adverse effects of pollution.
The total value of the project is 605,000.00 lei, of which the total non-refundable eligible value from the EEA Financial Mechanism (85%) is 514,250.00 lei, the non-refundable eligible value from the national budget (15%) is 90,750.00 lei.
The implementation period of the Project was 12 months and was carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests through the “Environment, adaptation to climate change and ecosystems” – RO – Environment Programme, financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area EEA 2014-2021.
The results of the completed Project led to the development of a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan in Prahova County, respectively, for Ploiești Municipality.
