The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests is the Programme Operator for the “Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems” Programme (RO-Environment), the Small Grants Scheme – ’’Development of mitigation and adaptation plans in municipalities’’, financed by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The municipality of Satu Mare, as Project Promoter, together with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, signed the financing contract no. 25241/BT/24.11.2022, on 24 November 2022, for the implementation of the project ’’Development of the climate change mitigation and adaptation plan in Satu Mare municipality’’.
The National Institute for Research and Development for the Protection of the Environment Bucharest (INCDPM Bucharest) is a Partner in the implementation of the project.
The project had a total budget of 584,832.00 lei, of which 85% represents the eligible non-refundable amount from the EEA FM 2014-2021, and 15% represents the national contribution. The project was implemented throughout a 15 month period.
The general objective of the project was to improve the mitigation and adaptation capacity to climate change at the level of the municipality of Satu Mare.
To achieve this general objective, the following technical activities were carried out:
- The inventory of greenhouse gas emissions at the level of the Municipality of Satu Mare;
- Analysis of the climate and the signal of climate change in the municipality of Satu Mare;
- Assessment of risks and vulnerabilities to climate change;
- Elaboration of the climate change mitigation and adaptation measures plan for the municipality of Satu Mare.
The results of the project led to the development of a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan for the municipality of Satu Mare.
