The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests is the Programme Operator for the “Environment, Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystems Programme’’ (RO – Environment), the Small Grants Scheme ’’Development of mitigation and adaptation plans in municipalities’’ that is funded by the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
Pitesti Municipality, as a partner, signed the financing contract no. 25238/BT/24.11.2022 on November 24, 2022 for the implementation of the project: ’’Development of the Plan for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change in Piteşti Municipality’’.
The total value of the project is 609,200.00 lei, of which 608,010.00 lei is the non-refundable eligible value.
The general objective of the project is the creation of a set of actions and a monitoring and control system of their implementation, that will lead to the reduction of the carbon footprint of Pitesti Municipality, respectively to the reduction of pollution from various pre-identified sources. This is consistent with the objective of the RO-Environment Programme, namely to improve the state of the environment in ecosystems and reduce the adverse effects of pollution and other human activities.
The specific objectives of the project under implementation are:
- the development of a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategy in the Municipality of Pitesti, which also contains the related plans, including by consulting the relevant decision-making factors regarding the actions proposed in the strategy/plans
- establishing a mechanism for monitoring and controlling the proposed actions
- assigning a team responsible for monitoring and implementing the strategy
- establishing some physically and temporally dimensioned objectives, in order to start the proposed actions
The results of the project under implementation will lead to the realization of a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan and will contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area by creating a sustainable development framework for future generations.
